Book Review of: The Complete Book of Incense, Oils & Brews by Scott Cunningham

I was lucky enough to be sent this book to review from another author and I know I'll be returning to it many, many times!

The first part of the book deals with magic, rites, ingredients and creating your own recipes. These opening chapters are so useful and help you to get involved in your own magic and recipes - not just read and copy someone else's!

The second part covers recipes for a huge amount of items you can make yourself that are so much better than shop bought. They include incense, aromatic and magical oils, tinctures, soaps, herbal charms and so much more. They have all been collected and adapted from ancient recipes which make them all the more special.

The third part of the book is very important and covers substitutions for the actual ingredients. A lot of the original recipes included rare and many times dangerous ingredients - not a great idea in this day and age! Scott lists substitutes for just about every ingredient and oil which makes everything so much easier.

I loved this book and there is an incredible amount of information within it. For anyone interested in magic and ritual or just to make your own lovely herbal soaps and scented oils, this is the book to get.

I highly recommend this book and give it:

Rating: 8.5/10
