Gettysburg Battlefield Floating Sword/ Bayonet?

This was taken Gettysburg Battlefield by a canon October 2005. The dark image is very clear on the negative which goes across the top of my son's head. The image appears to be a civil war sword/bayonet of some kind. If you look closely you can even make out a hand/fingers clutching it. I wonder what Ghost Hunters would think?
